RoSPA Gold Award

We have been awarded a RoSPA Gold Award for our commitment to making sure everyone involved in our Contracting, Building Products and Materials businesses – from our colleagues and contractors, to our customers and clients – gets home safely at the end of the day. This prestigious award from an internationally recognised organisation dedicated to saving lives and reducing injuries, shows our commitment to improving every aspect of our safety culture and record has paid off. To win the prize, we had to provide hard evidence in a variety of challenging categories, covering every aspect of how we’re actively working on safety across the business.

Dunbar delight in receiving FTA safety award

Our Dunbar cement site has received a 2018 Roadworthiness Award from the Freight Transport Association (FTA). The award recognises the site’s high standards when maintaining its fleet of vehicles and trailers and controlling safety related defects. FTA is the only organisation in the UK that represents all of the logistics sector, with more than 16,000 members. It also provides vehicle inspection services to organisations keen to achieve the very highest levels of safety and compliance.

On visiting Dunbar to deliver the award this week, FTA’s senior contract manager Eric Higham said: “I’m delighted to present the prestigious Roadworthiness Award to Dunbar Cement and Lime Logistics Operation, in recognition of the excellence it has achieved in vehicle safety and its commitment to maintaining the best standards of compliance and vehicle condition. This award reflects the very high benchmark set by Tarmac and I would like to congratulate everyone involved in the efforts that are obviously being made to ensure the fleet is safe, legal and efficient at all times.” Terry Scott, national logistics manager said, ”Safety and Transport compliance is a key priority throughout our work, and this award can be attributed to everyone in our Dunbar site. It recognises the exceptional contribution and hard work of the whole team to maintain our excellent safety record. We are delighted to receive the prestigious safety award and are incredibly proud of the high standards that we maintain throughout our fleet.”

The award followed a peer review process which has changed the way Building Products assesses its sites and attitudes towards safety. Rob Hunter, national operations manager, mortar, added: “I cannot express my delight for the team being the first site in the business to hit gold. The whole team has contributed to this and all work hard every day to keep standards at this level. We are all proud of their efforts and commitment to safety standards.
